The imense® Annotator is a keywording platform for professional and semi-professional photographers who want to reduce time spent on keywording and improve the commercial relevancy of those keywords. We’ve built some interesting technology to help.

You upload your images, then our computer vision technology automatically applies keywords that it sees as relevant to your images. These include cut-outs; color or black & white; inside or outside; the location of copy space; and how many people are in the image, together with their age ranges, sex, and ethnicity. This automation removes much of the manual task of keywording, helping you increase your productivity.

Wondering where to start? The imense® Commercial Vocabulary suggests keywords to you based on what is commercially important. Simply type in a word and our software shows you other keywords that have been used in association with it.

Our data has been mined from millions of professionally annotated images to provide you with a more informed decision on which keywords are more commercially relevant in order to maximize the value of your images.

The imense® Hotlist function allows you to group sets of keywords together to apply with one click to individual or groups of images. As part of the imense® community, you will see other users’ hotlists and will be able to share your own. The power of leveraging the views of a community of professional photographers saves you time and will allow you to more accurately keyword your images.

Need specifics? We also included a traditional parent-child vocabulary, which shows you the relationship between terms. For instance you might have clouds in your image but need scientific names such as cirrus, cumulus or nimbus. You’ll see that here.

Once you’ve finished keywording you can simply cut and paste or export all your keywords to a spreadsheet as a .CSV file. You can choose between custom spreadsheet formats for different agencies: AGE Fotostock, Alamy, Corbis, and Getty. Annotator automatically gets all the fiddly details right. So if your agency wants "nobody" instead of "0 people", or "Yes" instead of "MR" in the Model Release column, or tabs instead of semicolons, we'll handle that for you. So you can take more photos. For users of Adobe CS4, Annotator now offers an optional plugin for Adobe Bridge (currently in beta). This plugin allows you to directly apply keywords from Annotator to your images through Adobe Bridge CS4, bypassing the upload step. Find out more.
